What is Trauma? How can we heal from it?

Trauma is defined as any significant negative event or experience that took place that made us feel bad, scared, hurt or ashamed. Trauma can not only be defined as an event that happened to us but also something we didn’t get that we needed. A big part of people’s trauma stems back to childhood.

Did you know that chronic pain can be from unhealed trauma?

Did you know that anxiety is an emotion stored in the body coming from unprocessed trauma which is why mindfulness does not always work to calm anxiety. Working with a bottom up approach is very helpful which is why, as a Trauma Coach, I teach somatic practices.

Somatic practices aim to treat PTSD and other mental and emotional health issues through the connection of mind and body. This body-centric approach works by helping to release stress, tension, and trauma from the body

I believe everyone has the ability to heal and grow and I am passionate about helping people heal from trauma. I am dedicated to providing the support for trauma survivors and guidance necessary to help my clients reach their full potential.

Through my coaching services, I will provide a safe and supportive space for you to explore your experiences, develop coping strategies and build resilience. I will work with you to identify your goals and develop a personalized plan to help you achieve them.

I am committed to providing the highest quality of care and strive to create a compassionate and non-judgmental environment where you can feel comfortable and supported in your journey towards healing.

What is Coaching vs Therapy

Coaching is: I see you, I hear you, you matter

Trauma coaching and therapy are two different approaches to addressing trauma and its impact on an individual's life. While there is some overlap in terms of the techniques and strategies used, there are also important differences between the two.

Therapy, typically provided by licensed mental health professionals such as psychologists, social workers, and counselors, is a more comprehensive and structured approach that aims to help individuals process and heal from trauma. Therapists work with clients to identify the underlying causes of their trauma, address emotional and psychological issues, and develop coping strategies to manage symptoms. Therapeutic interventions may include talk therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure therapy, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) among others.

Trauma recovery coaching, on the other hand, is a more focused and goal-oriented approach that emphasizes practical strategies and tools to help individuals overcome trauma-related challenges and achieve specific objectives. Trauma coaches, who may or may not be licensed mental health professionals, work with clients to identify their goals, develop action plans, and provide guidance and support to help clients achieve their objectives. Trauma coaching is a great therapy alternative and is rooted in trauma informed practice so psycho-education is a big part of the process. Sessions may include techniques such as mindfulness, meditation, visualization, and somatic experiencing.
